It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Maryellen Lamb, Wharton Deputy Vice DeanThis morning, the Admissions Committee and our student Welcome Committee had probably the best task one can have in Admissions – calling and congratulating the new members of Wharton’s Class of 2016! December 17th has been one of the most exciting – and I’ll say it, crazy busy – days of the year in MBA Admissions. It has been a blast for me to be part of the selection process for the first time this year. It is a rigorous process that involves the full force of the Admissions staff to review, meet, and discuss every candidate. But all the work, late nights, travel to all corners of the globe, and meetings are worth it and I am thrilled to be welcoming the newest members of the Wharton community.

The Committee and I were all blown away by the thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, and unique points of view expressed in each application. Thank you for making this such a great experience – I was psyched to read every application and can’t wait continue working with all of you when you get to campus. We look forward to seeing you in Philly in January for Welcome Weekend!

The Welcome Committee video gives me goose bumps every time!

And while giving out good news is fun, we can’t ignore the fact that this day comes with bad news for some – it is unfortunate that we cannot accept every outstanding candidate that we met this round. We sincerely appreciate the time, effort, and energy that each candidate put into the application process and it was a pleasure to get to know each of you. That said, please keep in mind that we have many successful reapplicants admitted to the program each year, so if this is the place that you want to be, do not give up.

Congratulations again to the Class of 2016 Round 1 admitted students! On behalf of the entire MBA Admissions & Financial Aid team, we would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season and we look forward to seeing our next round of applicants in the New Year!

Regards,
Maryellen Reilly Lamb
