We are excited to announce that Round 1 interview invitations have been released! Your interview is an integral part of Wharton’s MBA Admissions process, which emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and collaboration.
The Team-Based Discussion (TBD) offers a unique chance to showcase your leadership and collaboration skills. During this exercise, you’ll be placed in a group of six candidates, and together, you will work to develop a cohesive response to a prompt. This leaderless exercise mirrors the dynamics of an MBA Learning Team, allowing us to observe how you function in a collaborative setting. Following the group discussion, each candidate will participate in a 10-minute one-on-one interview with a member of the admissions team to reflect on the TBD experience.
This is your moment to shine—not just as an individual, but as a team player. At Wharton, we value teamwork, and this experience gives you a firsthand look at how our students learn and grow together. We can’t wait to see how you approach the challenges and opportunities in the TBD, and how you contribute to your group’s dynamic.
To help you prepare for the TBD, we’ve gathered valuable tips from our Admissions Fellows—current second-year students who facilitate many of the interviews. Having gone through the process themselves, they can offer practical advice on how to prepare for this stage of the application.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 215-838-6183 or email mba-admiss@wharton.upenn.edu. We wish you the best of luck as you enter the interview phase, and we look forward to meeting you soon!
