At Wharton, our interview process reflects what makes our community unique: collaboration, innovation, and leadership through teamwork.
During the Team-Based Discussion (TBD), you’ll be placed in a group of six candidates and work together to develop a cohesive response to a shared prompt. This is a leaderless exercise, just like the learning environments you’ll find at Wharton. The TBD is designed to show us how you engage with others, communicate ideas, and contribute to a team.
After the group discussion, you’ll have a 10-minute one-on-one conversation with a member of the Admissions Team. This individual interview is a chance to reflect on your TBD experience and share more about your personal journey and motivations for pursuing an MBA at Wharton.
The TBD mirrors the dynamic of Wharton’s Learning Teams, where students work together to tackle complex challenges. We believe that how you collaborate is just as important as what you achieve. This process gives us insight into the qualities that help Wharton students thrive: teamwork, adaptability, empathy, and strategic thinking.
