Admissions Update – Response to COVID-19

Due to the growing global health risks from COVID-19, The University of Pennsylvania has released important changes to university operations.  Today, I want to share how MBA Admissions is responding and how these changes will impact both our newly admitted students for the Class of 2022 and upcoming recruitment activities for prospective students. Rest assured, we are here for you during this time.

Round 2 and Spring Welcome Weekend

We will release Round 2 decisions on March 26, 2020 as previously planned. We are happy to report that our committee procedures will not change in light of these new university operations and our admissions committee is running business as usual.

We have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel Spring Welcome Weekend. We are greatly saddened by this turn of events, but your health and safety are of the utmost importance. Our team is hard at work preparing a virtual alternative that all admitted students will be invited to join. Our goal is to connect you with current students and fellow admits, provide ways to experience the Wharton community, and answer all of your questions before the Round 2 enrollment deadline on May 4, 2020.

Round 3 and Advance Access

The new deadline for Round 3 is Wednesday, April 15 and the new deadline for Advance Access is Wednesday, May 27.  If you have questions or concerns regarding testing deadlines given the closures of testing centers, then please contact us directly at mba-admiss@wharton.upenn.edu.

As we learn more about the response to COVID-19, we may replace in-person interviews with virtual Team-Based Discussions and interviews. Given our deep experience with virtual interviews, we are confident that we can offer our trademark energy and commitment to your candidacy.

Campus Visits and Specialty Visit Days

We have made the difficult decision to cancel all campus visit events through April 23, 2020. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As an alternative, we encourage you to watch our Virtual Campus Tour and connect with our Admissions Fellows. To anyone that had previously registered to attend an on-campus event, please make sure to check your inboxes for direct links and invitations to other virtual one-on-one connection points with our community.

Information Sessions

The university has restricted staff travel, so we will not be planning MBA information sessions in your city until we are instructed to do so.  As an alternative, please check our events calendar for new webinars in the coming weeks. We look forward to meeting you virtually!

Eliminating large gatherings and social distancing are important steps to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. We know that these updates may be disappointing for many of you and we share your disappointment. However, my team is dedicated to ensuring these virtual alternatives are as informative and interactive as possible.  Our goal, as always, is to connect you with members of our community and offer you experiences to meet us either on campus or off. We will continue to communicate with you as updates emerge. We look forward to communicating with you soon.

All my best,

Blair Mannix
Director of Admissions
