Round 2 Decisions and Updates from Wharton MBA Admissions

Headshot of Blair Mannix, Director of Wharton MBA Admissions

Hi there! I’m writing to you for the first time as Director of Admissions for the Wharton MBA program. I am excited to serve you and the Wharton community in this role.

As a quick introduction, I have spent the last 13 years of my career dedicated to admissions at the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School. I have a commitment and passion for fair and accurate admissions practices and a devotion to bringing the most talented future MBA students into the Wharton family. I want candidates for the Wharton MBA Program to interact with our office; we look forward to meeting you on the road, conversing with you on the phone and over email, and welcoming you to campus. We are here to help you find out if Wharton is the place for you.

There’s a lot to talk about, but I’ll try to keep it brief and share some of what’s happening with Wharton MBA Admissions:

Round 2 Decisions Released

As many of you know, we released our Round 2 decisions last week. We were excited to see the backgrounds and talent our admitted students brought to the Wharton application. I am thrilled for all of you that were admitted. Welcome to the Wharton family! We’re looking forward to welcoming our newest admits during our Spring Welcome Weekend, April 12–14. Welcome Weekend is a great way to start your journey at Wharton, and if you are an admitted student who has not already registered, there is still time to do so! Be sure to check your email and register to join us in Philadelphia for the weekend. I think you’ll be pleased with what you find here in Philly!

Looking ahead to Round 3 and the Moelis Advance Access Program!

While our Round 2 process is behind us, we are less than one week away from the Round 3 deadline. The application will close at 5 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 and includes our unique deferred admissions program, the Moelis Advance Access Program.

If you’re a Penn senior and thinking about an MBA, the Moelis Advance Access Program may be a good option to consider. Penn students can apply in their senior year and, if admitted, have a guaranteed spot in the Wharton MBA program after earning 2-to-4 years of work experience. The best part is that you don’t have to wait until you’re in the door to engage with the community. From the moment you are admitted, you’ll have access to the Wharton community with connections to our faculty and services, and professional development opportunities as you gear up to join the Wharton MBA Program. And if you’re not admitted, no problem. You’ll already have the GMAT or GRE completed, and you are always reapply to the Wharton MBA program later — remember, your scores don’t expire for 5 years! You can find out more here.

Visit us on Campus

As we welcome our new students to the class of 2021, we are always thinking about the next talented class. The Admissions team will be on the road and on campus meeting those thinking of applying to the Class of 2022 and beyond. One of the best ways to learn about the Wharton MBA is to get a firsthand look and experience it for yourself on-campus, and spring is the perfect time to visit Philadelphia!

We are excited to share with you our specialty visit days. In the coming weeks, we will host events specifically for prospective international students, women, historically under-represented minorities, and students coming from the military. We are excited to show you our passionate and diverse community, and we look forward to welcoming you to campus!

  • Women’s Visit Day – Thursday, April 4, 2019
